Domaine de Pepouy
Cotes de Gascogne, Southwest France
Located in Mauleon d’Armagnac in the heart of the Bas Armagnac region of Southwest France, Pepouy (AKA Papolle) was established in the 17th century by the Piffard Familly, who are still keepers of this beautiful estate. Now managed by Frederic Piffard, the domaine is surrounded by forests and lakes, which mitigate the humid effect of the nearby Atlantic Ocean, Pepouy’s 52 hectares of sustainable vineyards are used for the production of world class Armagnac as well as still wines bottled under the Cotes de Gascogne IGP. The fine, brown-tinged, siliceous soil, known as boulbenes is typical of the area and is also found in the Entre-deux-Mers zone of Bordeaux. This soil gives excellent lift and freshness to the wines of the area.
Our Selections
Domaine de Pepouy Sauvignon Blanc Cotes de Gascogne 2022
100% Sauvignon Blanc from two plots totaling 8 ha, grown on sandy boulbenes soil. The grapes are harvested early in the morning to bring cool, fresh fruit to the winery. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks before being bottled with a gentle fining and filtration. This great value Sauvignon Blanc is lively and fresh with aromas of citrus, peaches, apricots, and flowers. The palate is vibrant and textured with hints of stone fruits and a crisp, dry finish.
